Tonya Roy

Tonya has worked with Redwoods in our Risk Management and Consulting department since 2008 before becoming Chief Consulting Officer in 2019. In that time, she has not only stood out as a model for Redwoods at its best but has also become a nationally recognized expert in risk management and safety too. Prior to joining us, Tonya served 16 years with the YMCA of the Triangle, North Carolina—most recently as Executive Director of the A. E. Finley branch. She is a Certified Risk Manager with deep knowledge of the risks our customers face. Tonya has been instrumental in the development and deployment of our new customer engagement plans. And continues to lead the evolution of this approach as the consulting team delivers practical insights and strategies that make a real difference in the communities we serve. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Campbell University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (BBA). Once a marathon runner—qualifying and competing in the Boston marathon—she is now an avid triathlete, specifically racing 2-3 full-distance Ironman events each year for a purpose. She competes for her friend, Lori, who suffered a traumatic brain injury from a cycling accident. She was recently recognized for her efforts at Ironman Florida. She lives in Durham with her wife, Hayley.
 

Tonya currently sits on the local YMCA Enterprise Risk Management Committee and volunteers as an Executive mentor for Appalachian State University’s School of Business; Risk & Insurance Center.
