Thank you for exploring the topic of aquatic safety with us at the General Assembly of YMCAs. The more that all of us understand the realities of lifeguarding a pool, the closer we will be to creating communities that are truly safe for all. That’s why we’ve been emphasizing the importance of regular, realistic, and diverse lifeguard training.

Resources Available

The Professional Lifeguard Training: This training prepares guards to be physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to respond to an emergency.
Short Micro-Learnings: 5-minute, refresher trainings for staff to take on their phones or before a staff meeting.
You Tell The Story Scenario Cards: A set of group exercises to help staff anticipate incidents that may happen at your pool.
Aquatics Director Toolkit: A compilation of our top guidance, along with tips and tricks for implementation.
