Every year at the NAYDO (North American YMCA Development Organization) conference, hundreds of Y professionals—and many Redwoods staff—show up a day early for Philanthropy Live!. Redwoods has been sponsoring this event since 2011, and we are proud to do so again. Whether it’s repainting a shelter for vulnerable families, or building wheelchair accessible decking on a beach, the purpose of that day is simple:
To leave the community a little better than when we found it.
This year, NAYDO looked a little different. And Philanthropy Live! looked a little different too. Yet it ended up being one of our most important years ever, because we used the opportunity to lift up conversations about how anti-racism can and must become a central pillar of YMCA work.
