Key Aquatic Observations: A Message from Our Chief Consulting Officer (June 2023)

Now that summer programming has begun, and Redwoods continues visiting our customer organizations, we want to share what we’ve seen in the field. Tonya Roy—our Chief Consulting Officer—sat down to share her insights and highlight what to prioritize around aquatic safety as the summer continues.

As Tonya mentioned, it is critical that everyone continues to prepare lifeguards to identify and respond to an aquatic emergency. This means:

• Educating lifeguards on the common behaviors an individual may exhibit before or during an aquatic event so they can identify an emergency quickly within their zone.
• Providing ongoing, realistic, hands-on training for lifeguards so they can confidently and successfully respond to an aquatic emergency.
